Ocular Prosthesis?

Ocular Prosthesis known as the artificial eye is a combination of art and science which deals with fitting & fabrication of custom ocular prosthesis working closely with ophthalmic plastic surgeons and ophthalmologists. The contours and folds of the eyelids, amount of movement, and color of the natural eye are matched to create a prosthetic eye. And is implanted in patients who have lost their eyes due to various causes such as trauma, surgery, cancer, or in patients with shrunken damaged eyes, etc. The Ocular prosthesis are fitted behind the eyelids over a prosthetic eye or an orbital implant placed following surgical removal of the eye at affordable cost.

Who All benefit?

Anopthalmos- An absence of one or both eyes due to a small bony orbit, constricted socket, short eyelids or reduced palpebral fissure.

Micropthalmos- Small appearance of one or both eyes.

Contracted socket- Due to congenital disorders, radiation treatment (usually as treatment of the tumor), extrusion of an implant, severe initial injury (alkali burns or extensive lacerations).

Corneal scars- Due to disease, infection, or injury.

Phthisis Bulbi- It is a shrunken, non-functional eyeball. May be from severe eye disease, inflammation or injury.
