Low Vision Aids

This department deals with the rehabilitation of patients with low vision (distance vision < 6/18/ near vision < N12/ field of vision < 30 degrees) that cannot be further helped by medical or any surgical means. The exact low vision device chosen depends on the patient’s needs and abilities, eg. for distance, VES and telescopes and for near, optical magnifiers such as dome, stand and pocket magnifiers. Few have in-built illumination also. For patients with very poor vision, video magnifiers and CCTV are used.

Department Of Vision Rehabilitation

This department deals primarily with children having developmental delay, cerebral palsy, and retinal dystrophies. As these children have poor cognitive capabilities, they need assessment of functional vision, physiotherapy and home-based exercises for multiple disabilities and environmental modifications in home and school.
